A slender lighthouse on a small rocky islet; its orange beam circles over the dark water, leaving rings like sound waves or a loop of cassette tape.

Island 05 · Autoreverse

Your library. Your server.

Autoreverse is our side project: apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac and CarPlay, and their own server for audiobooks, music and podcasts.

Origin

Audiobooks you bought vanish with the subscription. Podcasts sit with a provider that will one day decide what you’re allowed to hear. Autoreverse flips that: your library lives on a server you own, and the apps talk to nothing else.

Built not for a market but for the love of listening – and to share with the community.

Principles

No account with us, no analytics, no ads, no usage data. And open source: if software runs on your home network, you should be able to read what it does. Self-hosting you can’t inspect is just trust moved somewhere else.

Tech

The server is a single Node process on PostgreSQL. It starts with Docker on a NAS, a home server or a rented box, and is managed through a web interface (in German). It fetches subscribed podcasts by itself. Clients speak an open JSON API – your own included; the docs ship with the source.

Status

The apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac and CarPlay are in preparation. Server source, install guide and API reference will be published together as open source. We’ll name a date once we can keep it.

Your library is waiting.
